South Carolina Betting Preview for 2025 Football Season

Scott Morris | August 26, 2025
head coach shane beamer

Cocks! That is what a drunken fan yelled in my face years ago when I went to watch a bowl game. I believe they were playing Nebraska. I didn’t have a dog in the fight that day. I was just there to watch a good game.

Gamecocks fans are loyal and sometimes rabid. They are waiting for that day where they can hoist up the national championship trophy with beaming pride. It would be their first. Luckily for them, South Carolina is ranked #13 to start the year.

Lenoris Sellers is the man in Columbia, SC. The young QB had a good season last year and South Carolina wants to build on that. He threw for 2,534 yards – 18 TD’s and 7 INT’s. On the ground he rushed for 674 yards and 7 more scores.

On paper SC has just 7 returning starters. But there are a bunch of players who started games here or there. In fact, they are listing a total of 118 total starts between all the players suiting up in 2025. If you do the quick math that is equal to 10 players averaging just under 12 starts.

South Carolina ranked 22nd nationally out of all programs when it comes to incoming talent via the transfer portal. Most notable among those inbound transfers are two studs at LB and three solid offensive linemen. They also picked up a good TE.

2025 South Carolina Schedule

  • Aug. 31: vs. Virginia Tech (Atlanta, Ga.)
  • Sept. 6: vs. South Carolina State
  • Sept. 13: vs. Vanderbilt
  • Sept. 20: at Missouri
  • Sept. 27: vs. Kentucky
  • Oct. 11: at LSU
  • Oct. 18: vs. Oklahoma
  • Oct. 25: vs. Alabama
  • Nov. 1: at Ole Miss
  • Nov. 15: at Texas A&M
  • Nov. 22: vs. Coastal Carolina
  • Nov. 29: vs. Clemson

When looking at this schedule you can tell where the rough spots are going to be. The gamecocks will have their hands full right off the bat when they play Va. Tech at a neutral site (Atlanta). See live NCAAF lines here. At LSU will be a tough one for the boys as LSU is ranked #9 overall in the nation. Alabama will be troublesome as will Texas A&M and Clemson. They will probably lose 2 or 3 of those 4 games.

BetOnline.ag has their win total Over/Under set at 7.5 games. I think the “cocks” will win 7 games this season. So, I am placing a small wager on the UNDER. As far as national championship odds are concerned, South Carolina is +6,600 to win it all… way overvalued in my opinion. I don’t they even sniff the playoffs.
