This season should be an exciting one as the Florida Panthers under Paul Maurice look to capture a 3-peat, something that hasn’t been done in over 40 years and has been accomplished just 5 times.

Alex Ovechkin will be chasing Wayne Gretzky’s all-time goals record (needing 43 more in regular season and playoffs combined) and bold off-season moves like Mitch Marner joining Vegas and Jonathan Toews signing elsewhere. Top contenders project as the Colorado Avalanche winning the West (bolstered by additions like Brock Nelson) and the Carolina Hurricanes taking the East via savvy trades such as acquiring Nikolaj Ehlers. Award watches: Jack Hughes (Devils) for a 100-point season and Macklin Celebrini (Sharks) for a 90-point sophomore leap.
