Five Best College Football Over/Under Win Total Bets for the 2026 Season

college football total wins picks 2026

One of the most popular offseason betting markets in college football is season win totals. Unlike national championship futures, bettors don’t need a team to be elite to cash a ticket. They simply need a program to exceed expectations or avoid a major drop-off.

Looking at the numbers for 2026, several totals stand out as offering strong value. Some are based on coaching stability, others on favorable schedules, and a few simply look too low considering the talent returning to campus. Here are five of the best over/under win total bets heading into the season.

Ohio State Over 9.5 Wins

It’s hard to ignore history when evaluating Ohio State. The Buckeyes have won at least 10 regular-season games in 18 of the last 19 full seasons, with the lone exception coming during the transition year following Jim Tressel’s departure. Ryan Day remains in charge, and Ohio State returns one of the most talented rosters in the country.

The schedule isn’t easy. Road trips to Iowa, Indiana, and USC won’t be simple, while home games against Texas, Oregon, and Michigan provide little margin for error. Even so, Ohio State could lose one or two of those matchups and still reach 10 wins. With Julian Sayin taking over at quarterback and Jeremiah Smith leading the receiving corps, the Buckeyes have too much talent to ignore.

Georgia Over 9.5 Wins

Any time Georgia’s win total sits below 10, it deserves attention. Kirby Smart has built one of the most consistent programs in college football. Georgia has recorded at least 10 regular-season wins in eight consecutive full seasons, and the Bulldogs enter 2026 with another favorable path to double-digit victories.

The SEC is never easy, but Georgia avoids some of the schedule pitfalls that other contenders face. Games against Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss, Missouri, and South Carolina look challenging on paper, yet it’s difficult to find three losses on this schedule. Betting against Smart reaching 10 wins has not been a profitable strategy over the past decade.

Miami Over 10.5 Wins

Miami is coming off a run to the national championship game and enters 2026 as one of the ACC favorites. Mario Cristobal continues to build the Hurricanes from the ground up, and that foundation has created a major talent advantage against most conference opponents. While Miami has occasionally lost games it should win, the overall roster remains one of the strongest in the ACC.

The key factor is schedule strength. Miami appears capable of matching up with every major opponent on the slate, including Notre Dame. If the Hurricanes avoid an upset or two, reaching 11 wins is very realistic. This number is aggressive, but Miami has the talent to clear it.

SMU Over 8.5 Wins

SMU has quietly become one of the most reliable programs in the country. Since joining the ACC, the Mustangs have won 20 games in two seasons and continue to benefit from stability under head coach Rhett Lashlee. Quarterback Kevin Jennings returns for his third season as the starter, giving SMU valuable experience at the most important position on the field.

The schedule also creates an advantage in reaching at least nine wins. Even if SMU loses games against Notre Dame, Florida State, or Louisville, enough winnable contests remain to reach nine victories. The Mustangs have consistently exceeded expectations under Lashlee, making this one of the stronger over bets on the board.

LSU Over 8.5 Wins

LSU’s total feels lower than expected for a program with this much talent. The Tigers face a difficult schedule featuring Clemson, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Alabama, Texas, and Tennessee. That looks intimidating at first glance, but LSU doesn’t need perfection to reach nine wins. Splitting those major games may be enough.

The arrival of Lane Kiffin has created significant optimism around the program, and LSU reportedly enters the season with one of the most talented rosters in college football. There may not be four losses on the schedule if the Tigers play to their potential. At 8.5 wins, the number appears very manageable.

Final Thoughts

Season win totals are often about identifying numbers that look slightly off before the market adjusts. Ohio State and Georgia have long histories of reaching double-digit wins, while Miami, SMU, and LSU appear positioned to outperform their current projections. There are certainly other attractive options on the board, but these five stand out as some of the strongest over/under plays heading into the 2026 college football season.
