Blackhawks Are (-150) Chalk in Stanley Cup Game 3

June 8, 2015

The Stanley Cup Finals moves to the United Center for Game 3 on Monday night with the best of seven series tied at 1-1, between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Chicago Blackhawks. Odds makers have a number of different props for bettors to go along with the usual moneyline and goal total, which has been moved up to 5.5 for this contest.

With the split in Tampa, Chicago was able to take home ice advantage from the Lightning heading to their home ice at the United Center where they are 7-1 this postseason.

The Blackhawks are -150 chalk in Game 3, with the Lightning sitting at +140. The goal total as mentioned earlier is at 5.5, with the UNDER offering -130.

Even though the total number of shot attempts was low in Game 2 at just 97, odds makers have moved the goal total up. Both offenses played well in Game 2 and the final score of 4-3 was evidence of that. Both teams played thin on the defensive end and that was exposed at different times during the game.

The top lines for each team finally started to produce the way they did all season and during the playoffs. Odds makers feel the same will happen on Monday in Game 3.

As has been the case in both games, Tampa Bay was able to generate more quality scoring opportunities around Chicago goalie Corey Crawford who did not play particularly well.

One big unknown for Monday’s Game 3 and possibly other games going forward is the condition of Ben Bishop the goaltender for the Lightning. He left the game on two occasions during the third period and remained out for good with less than eight minute remaining.

However, if Bishop cannot play Andrei Vasilelskiy a 20-year old rookie will take his place and the line on the game should remain similar.

Chicago closed at -135 prior to the start of the series and can now be had at -165 to lift the Stanley Cup.
