Sportbooks on the Hook for Thanksgiving Leftovers this Sunday

November 26, 2016

A great deal of leftovers remained from Thanksgiving and they are not the type you eat.

The three Thursday NFL games have left sportsbooks in the holes due to the big risk of carry over for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and a big game on Monday night.

Most books want to bank sufficient money on Thursday so they can offset some of the eventual risk that will eventually become big payouts in the form of teasers and parlays.

Teasers hit a number of books hard on Thursday. If a bettor, bet all sides on the teaser Thursday he or she was 5-1 with Indianapolis the only side failing.

If all sides were bet on the teaser as well as the total for the Dallas-Washington game, you were 4-0.

One fortunate outcome for online sportsbooks was the always popular Dallas Cowboys -5.5 did not cover in their 31-26 victory over Washington, which helped to lower the risk on parlays.

However, the bad results for all sportsbooks was everyone was able to reload on Pittsburgh -8 who routed the Colts, with many of those teaser and parlay tickets still alive entering the weekend.

The Week 12 games on Sunday are not very attractive, but the wagering will be heavy nonetheless.

A number of sportsbooks have taken a great deal of action on Tennessee due to questions over the quarterback situation in Chicago, which has moved the line up 2 to Titans -4.5. Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler will not play and Matt Barkley his back-up will start.

Strong action was also seen for both teams in the matchup between Arizona and Atlanta -5. Even though the Cardinals are 0-3 ATS in their past three games played, the public believes in them. Atlanta has covered only once in its past four.

The leftovers or in this case the teasers from Thanksgiving have made some of Sunday’s games problematic for sportsbooks.

Seattle -6 visits Tampa Bay and has seen not only some sharp money, but also big teaser play.

Kansas City visits Denver -3.5 and this game has action on both sides and for a number of books has the most action of any Sunday game including teaser leftovers.

Of course, the public is all over New England -7.5 against the New York Jets while sharp money is with New York.
