Washington and Baltimore Have Solid Value on Futures Board

November 24, 2016

The NFL enters Week 12 starting on Thanksgiving Day. With six weeks remaining on the schedule, there remain a few solid bargains left on the Super Bowl futures board.

At the top, things continue to look the same with New England leading the way followed by Seattle and Dallas. Neither one of the three teams has any real value at this time due to how short their odds are.

The best time to bet on the top three if they remain in that order would be the start of the postseason when the odds are likely to be adjusted as the teams are whittled down to just 12.

However, based solely on recent performance there are a pair of teams that are solid choices for a bet at this time. The Washington Redskins are currently 40 to 1 to win the Super Bowl while the Baltimore Ravens are 50 to 1 giving each value due to how well they have performed of late.

Washington started the season 0-2, but since is 6-1-1 and in good shape to make the postseason. The Redskins have three straight games on the road starting in Dallas on Thanksgiving Day.

The stretch run for the Redskins is not easy, but Washington tends to play up to its competition, as the team is 4-0 versus teams with records over .500.

The Redskins continue to be undervalued each week and that is evidenced by them going 8-1-1 straight up over their past 10 games as dogs.

At 40 to 1, Washington is one of the best if not the best value of any team on the board this week.

Baltimore has a solid chance to reach the postseason and at 50 to 1 have strong value. The Ravens could reach the postseason through winning the NFC North in which they are currently tied with Pittsburgh or through a wildcard spot.

Baltimore started the season 3-0 then lost 4 straight, but look to be returning to form winning 2 of its past 3 games, with the only loss to Dallas.

If the Ravens reach the postseason, the road to the Super Bowl passes through New England in the AFC and Baltimore is 2-2 SU in four postseason games with New England dating back to 2010.

The Ravens play very well once in the playoffs, as they have yet to lose in their first playoff game in all the times they have qualified. However, reaching the playoffs is still the big question mark for the team.

Nevertheless, at 50 to 1 odds, the Ravens are the second best choice for the money on the board.
